“This behavior is inappropriate and disrespectful for any event at the White House,” the flack said. In a new video she shared on Instagram, Montoya — who is also a model — apologized and vowed to articulate "trans joy in a more effective way." Montoya said that going topless in Washington, D.C., is legal and accusing conservatives of using the video to try to advance their agenda.

The spokeswoman said Montoya and the two other topless guests in her video would not be invited to future White House events. “The behavior was simply unacceptable,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Tuesday. “It was unfair to the hundreds of attendees who were there to celebrate their families,” she added. Montoya, 27 — who was barred from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue following backlash from the flashing, which a White House spokesperson described as “inappropriate and disrespectful” — apologized for her behavior in a three-minute video on Twitter.

Also in the clips, the Idaho-born model was seen getting the opportunity to meet the president and first lady. “No, this isn’t another hookers-n-blow photo from Hunter’s laptop, it was the Pride party on the White House lawn two days ago hosted by Joe,” radio host Dana Loesch tweeted. Rose Montoya, 27, who was among the lengthy list of guests invited to celebrate Pride at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Saturday, was recorded pulling down her dress and cupping her exposed breasts in front of the Truman Balcony with the Pride flag hanging in the background. “Thanks for setting back everything the trans community has been trying to accomplish,” one trans follower wrote.

“THOUSANDS of trans activists (like myself) have worked for decades, to show transgender people in a POSITIVE light to society, and you go and TEAR IT ALL DOWN, in one day?? ” a mental-toughness trainer named Robin St Louis told Montoya with a crying emoji. The Idaho native has since become a vocal advocate for the trans community through social media, modeling, and motivational speeches at storied venues like Yale and Stanford universities, according to her website. Trans rights are human rights,” told the commander-in-chief as they shook hands. The White House banned trans influencer Rose Montoya on Tuesday after she sparked a firestorm after posting a video showing her briefly going topless during a Pride event at the White House over the weekend.

Asked about Montoya's behavior, a White House spokesperson told Newsweek in a statement it was "inappropriate and disrespectful for any event at the White House." Ms Montoya posted a 58-second video of the White House event which included a moment where she is seen topless, with her hands over her chest, next to two shirtless trans men. Rose Montoya, a trans woman, influencer and advocate, was one of those banned after posting a video on social media.

Rose Montoya, a transgender activist and social media influencer, will not be invited back to the White House after she posted a video of herself topless with two shirtless trans men at last weekend’s White House Pride Month celebration. "My trans masculine friends were showing off their top surgery scars and living in joy, and I wanted to join them," she said. "And because it is perfectly within the law of Washington DC, I decided to join them and cover my nipples just to play it safe." "I had the honor of attending White House Pride, the largest one in history where the pride flag flew for the first time," Montoya wrote in the caption of her TikTok video. "This is trans joy. We're here at the white house unapologetically trans, queer, and brown." Following uproar from conservatives, who Montoya says are trying to use her clip as an example that the transgender community “grooms” young people, the model made a response video, pointing out that being topless is not against the law in Washington, DC.

"Moving forward I am committed to using this moment as a catalyst for creating positive change within myself and within the broader community and world at large." Trans rights are human rights,” Montoya said to the Democrat as they shook hands. Near the end of the video, Montoya is seen walking toward the White House and going topless as her hands cover her breasts.

The White House called the incident “inappropriate and disrespectful” and said it’s “not reflective of the event we hosted to celebrate LGBTQI+ families” or other guests. "My transmasculine friends are showing off their top surgery scars and living in joy, and I wanted to join them. And because it is perfectly within the law in Washington, D.C., I decided to join them and cover my nipples just to play it safe." "In a quick moment of fleeting and overwhelming trans joy, I decided to do something unbecoming of a guest of the president at the White House lawn celebration," Montoya said. "More so than ever before, I have learned how powerful and just how impactful my actions are and how impactful it is when we share our stories and experiences and how we do so with the world. I want to take this moment to apologize for the impact of my actions." On Saturday Rose Montoya attended a Pride event on the White House lawn, hosted by the Biden administration, along with hundreds of other queer activists. Shortly afterward, she posted a video on Instagram that showed a clip of her standing in front of the White House topless as she covered her nipples with her hands.

Images and footage circling social media show trans model Rose Montoya topless, covering her breasts with her hands, during a LGBTQ Pride month celebration hosted by the administration on Saturday in Washington D.C.

To be considered public nudity, one must expose the female breast below the top of the nipple without full “opaque coverage,” according to the law on obscenity in the District of Columbia. Montoya also shared clips of herself meeting Biden and first lady Jill Biden shortly before she undid her top in front of the Truman Balcony. Montoya was one of several guests invited to celebrate LGBTQIA+ Pride Month at the White House South Lawn event on June 12. Montoya ended the address by affirming her commitment to using the media kerfuffle as a “catalyst to create positive change” for herself and other trans individuals. Montoya offered special words of apology to black trans individuals, and to her family and friends who were harassed in the wake of the scandal.

“Going topless in DC is legal, and I fully support the movement to free the nipples,” she said. All you’re doing is saying that trans women are women because for some reason, people like to sexualise women’s bodies and say that they’re inappropriate. We’ve been very clear about that," Jean-Pierre said. “It was unfair to the hundreds of attendees who were there to celebrate their families." "Last but not least I'd like to apologize to the president, the White House and the nation. It was also never my intention to create a situation that would lead to harassment and harm of myself and others," Montoya said.

Supreme Court refused to hear a challenge to a New Hampshire law that fined women for exposing their breasts in public. The same year, a Utah woman took a plea deal to avoid having to register as a sex offender because her stepchildren saw her topless. She wore a white dress, chunky-framed sunglasses and slides as she smiled and posed with other activists, waved a trans Pride flag, and shook hands with the Bidens. But in the wake of the South Lawn stunt, her social media accounts were inundated with angry comments from the trans community.

Rose Montoya was among hundreds welcomed by President Joe Biden on Saturday for a celebration on the South Lawn described by the administration as the largest Pride event ever hosted at the White House. "It took focus from what this event was meant to be and focused it right on to you," the user wrote. "I'm sorry to say this to you as I do really support you and admire you. As part of the LGBTQI+ community, I am saddened that this only added fuel for the Conservatives to spread the lies that we are nothing more than sexual deviants."

The truth is, news costs money to produce, and we are proud that we have never put our stories behind an expensive paywall. Responding to those critics, the model shared a further video with her 103,000 followers in which she defended herself.

Images and footage of a topless Montoya covering her breasts with her hands circled social media soon after the event. The spokesperson said that her actions were "not reflective of the event we hosted to celebrate LGBTQI+ families or the other hundreds of guests who were in attendance" and that "Individuals in the video will not be invited to future events." The fifteen-year-old drummer Corey Miller wanted a tattoo and, as a drummer in a punk rock group, concluded he needed one. So he applied a needle with thread winded around it to produce his first tattoo on himself. Corey determined to build his tattoo machine, which consisted of a fish tank pump motor, a curved toothbrush, the tip of a Bic pen, and a few guitar strings as a needle. The homemade contraption he carried around included a bottle of Pelican ink.

Rose Montoya, 27, met the US president and First Lady Jill Biden at the largest Pride celebration in White House history on Saturday. Montoya was among hundreds of people the Biden administration invited to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to celebrate Pride Month which is observed each June. In her fast-cut edited IG clip, Montoya captured her meetings with the president and first lady Jill Biden.

The video sparked an online backlash, with many claiming her actions were in bad taste.

She explained that she hadn’t planned to bare her chest at the event but joined the moment spontaneously. Chaya Raichik, who runs the Twitter Libs of TikTok hate account, shared the clip with her 2.2 million followers. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Montoya’s “behavior was simply unacceptable.” Jean-Pierre was responding to a question during Tuesday’s White House press briefing. In response, Ms Montoya said being topless in Washington was legal and she had no intention of being vulgar. Prominent military veterans have accused the Biden administration of diminishing the American flag by placing a Pride banner at the center of a display.

Transgender activist Rose Montoya, who has been barred from the White House after going topless during a Pride Month event on the South Lawn, has seen her popularity on social media grow. “More so than ever before I have learned how powerful and just how impactful my actions are,” she said in her apology video. “I also feel energized to educate and articulate to others the importance and power of trans joy in a more effective way,” she added. Right-wing media outlets, including Fox News and the New York Post, swooped in to cover her bare-chested moment. Montoya said she and her family were harassed, and critics — some of them part of the LGBTQ+ community — flooded the comment sections on her social media accounts. Montoya stood grinning in front of the White House in one part of the video, the top of her dress at her waist, her hands covering her nipples.

Also on Tuesday, The Guardian published an interview with Montoya discussing the lack of paid partnerships during this year’s Pride month. Montoya, who uses she/they pronouns, has not publicly commented on the White House’s decision to ban her from future events, but defended herself on social media from the growing backlash Monday. "The topless video took place after the majority of people had cleared out, as no one else is present in the video besides the topless people," one Twitter user wrote. "Also, since yall call trans women men, what's wrong with her boobs being out, since she's a man after all." Montoya's video drew fierce backlash from conservatives online, but Montoya's decision to go topless also upset some supporters of LGBTQ+ rights. Although it immediately raised the hackles of conservatives, Montoya justified the post by saying she wanted to join two transmasculine friends who were showing off their own top surgery scars.

Montoya's comments came shortly after many conservatives criticized a video in which she was seen topless at the White House for a Pride Month celebration. Right-wing extremists and conservatives who already push a false narrative that LGBTQ+ people are sexualizing children and others by simply existing jumped on the video and amplified the outrage surrounding the brief moment. On Saturday, the White House hosted what administration officials called the largest Pride Month celebration in White House history. More than 1,000 LGBTQ+ people, their families, and allies attended the outdoor soiree.

In a statement to The Post on Tuesday, a White House spokesperson said she flouted basic etiquette and is persona non grata at future events. Over the past several months, members of the LGBTQ+ community have faced ongoing criticism while companies promoting Pride Month like Target and Kohl's have faced boycotts from conservatives. During a White House press briefing Tuesday, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre condemned the trans activist for the display.

Following the initial backlash to the topless clip, Montoya protested that her actions were completely legal. "These are the 'bravest and most inspiring' people Biden has ever known. The country you once knew is gone." In 2021 she was named one of “18 LGBTQ+ Policy Makers and Advocates Changing the World” by Out Magazine on the strength of her online “educational content” as Republican-led state legislatures around the nation enacted anti-trans legislation. She began performing in drag during college and came out as transgender in 2015, when she started “gender affirming hormone therapy” and changed her name legally to Rosalynne, the bio says. The incident was posted to her 103,000 followers on Instagram, along with a follow-up clip Monday night, in which the 27-year-old snapped back at detractors. The stakes are high this year, and our 2024 coverage could use continued support.

Montoya added that she also did not intend for her moment of trans joy to be weaponized by "vile people of the opposition." She shared the clips with her social media followers and later slapped back at critics by claiming she did not violate any Washington, DC, laws. I was simply living in joy, living my truth, and existing in my body,” she said. Biden and first lady Jill Biden welcomed hundreds of people to the White House for a picnic and concert to commemorate Pride Month.

"[Y]our feckless topless stunt has set us back further! Those of us who have been clawing and fighting for equality will not forgive you," one Instagram user commented under the video. As Americans head to the polls in 2024, the very future of our country is at stake. At HuffPost, we believe that a free press is critical to creating well-informed voters. That's why our journalism is free for everyone, even though other newsrooms retreat behind expensive paywalls.

"I alongside other powerful voices in the queer and trans communities were invited to be represented, seen and heard in a unique and very special way," the 27-year-old said. "In a quick moment of fleeting and overwhelming trans joy, I decided to do something unbecoming of a guest of the president." “It was also never my intention to create a situation that might lead to harassment and harm of myself and others, nor for trans joy, like my little moment of trans joy, to be weaponized by vile people of the opposition,” Montoya said. On social media, Montoya, whose Instagram biography identifies her as an educator, model and actor, called the video an act of joy in celebrating the transgender community. “It has recently come to my attention that conservatives are trying to use the video of me topless at the White House to try to call the community groomers, et cetera.

It was a brief shot where Montoya is seen topless with her hands covering her breasts alongside two others that prompted an edited version of her video to be circulated on Twitter by conservatives. A transgender influencer and activist has hit back after a TikTok video that showed her topless during a Pride Month celebration at the White House sparked outrage. The Biden administration said transgender activist Rose Montoya will not be invited back to the White House following her decision to go topless during the Pride Month event on the South Lawn.

While Montoya's actions have seen her barred from attending future events at the White House, at least under Biden's administration, her follower count has seen a surge in the days since the event. Three guests at a White House LGBTQ+ Pride party on Saturday have been banned from future events after posing topless on the South Lawn. The debate around equalizing nudity laws across genders — sometimes called the “Free the Nipple” movement — has been growing in the United States.

Attend a luau where you can feast on Hawaiian cuisine and enjoy music, dancing and fire play. Some take place on plantations where you can discover more about local agriculture. Or, stop by historic attractions, such as Honolulu's Iolani Palace or the Big Island's city of refuge, to learn about the ancient Polynesian culture or the Kingdom of Hawaii. Water sports are also a big draw, whether that's surfing Hawaii's waves or snorkeling with green turtles in Maui.

Kauai

For a guaranteed adults-only sailing in a relaxed, boutique-style setting, upscale cruise line Viking also offers round-trip Hawaii cruises from Los Angeles in late 2024 and early 2025 on its 930-passenger Viking Neptune. Zaandam will also sail 51- to 56-night Tales of the South Pacific itineraries that visit multiple islands in Hawaii and French Polynesia along with ports in the Cook Islands, American Samoa and Fiji. Travelers who have more than two weeks to spare and who prefer to arrive in Hawaii via ship rather than an airplane can do so on Holland America's 17-night Circle Hawaii itinerary. They'd better also love sea days because crossing the Pacific from San Diego or Vancouver to Honolulu and back requires 10 days.

Unforgettable Hawaii Cruises, Including a Tiny 36-Passenger Sailing and a Disney Ship

Different from an all inclusive resort, you wake up at a new port throughout your vacation rather than the same scenery. Norwegian Cruise Line bases only one ship in the region; other lines only sail to the islands seasonally. Booking early will not only guarantee you get the cabin type you want on the sail date you prefer, but may also get you the lowest prices and promotional booking bonuses (i.e. free stuff).

Things To Do in Oahu (Honolulu)

But a little rain might just be worth it to avoid summer crowds in one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. Relax and let us handle the details in any one of our departure ports with Princess Cruise Plus® hotel packages and transfer options. All Cruise Plus® offerings provide the same high level of service you’ll experience on your Hawaii cruise, so you can enjoy the peace of mind of a hassle-free transition before or after your voyage. In addition to the free shore excursions, pricing includes complimentary wine or beer with lunch and dinner, specialty dining at no extra charge, crew gratuities and transfers.

Four Seasons Resort Lanai

After departing Vancouver, British Columbia, the ship spends four days at sea before it arrives in Lahaina, Maui, for a day of exploring. Options include strolling through the historic town, visiting Haleakala Crater, whale watching, and swimming at Kaanapali Beach. The final stop is Oahu, where passengers spend as much time as they want exploring Honolulu, Waikiki Beach, or the rest of the island before heading home.

Hawaii Cruise Articles and Videos

Only Norwegian lets you visit four islands in seven days, which means you're on an island each and every day! Since we are the only cruise line that homeports in Hawaii, offering convenient year-round Saturday departures, you can vacation on your schedule. But once you hop the Hawaiian islands with Norwegian, it will become your thing. We are deeply saddened to hear about the wildfires currently impacting the town of Lahaina in Maui. We have a very special relationship with the people and islands of Hawaii, as we sail to the beautiful state year-round. Let Princess Cruises take you to the best sights and on thrilling adventures with our award-winning Hawaii shore excursions.

Whether you’re on a cruise to Honolulu from the mainland, or a cruise from Honolulu, you’ll find yourself spellbound by this magical Pacific destination. Before or after your cruise, take the time to explore the historic port of Honolulu and its lively mix of world-class dining, perfect beaches and lush, tropical landscape. It’s hard to imagine a more picture-perfect holiday destination, and a cruise to Honolulu is an ideal way to experience it.

After dark, enjoy glittering entertainment before dancing under the stars. Elevate your experience at The Retreat® and stay in a beautiful suite with access to a private lounge and the exclusive restaurant, Luminae at The Retreat. Enjoy a tour guide tailored to you on the culture of Hawaii & its island folklores. Head to Pearl Harbor to learn more about what it was like on that fateful day of December 7, 1941. Visit the USS Arizona Memorial, which starts with a quick but informative documentary viewing followed by a memorable boat ride out to the historic ship.

Ships are in port for nine to 11 hours in Hawaii (Hilo), Kauai and Maui and for 16 hours in Oahu. Itineraries include a stop in Ensenada, Mexico (so passports are required), plus nine or 10 sea days. From Kona, join a snorkel or submarine tour to admire the spectacular underwater world. Meet local producers and try island-made coffee and chocolate, or explore the lush interior of the Big Island in a 4x4, stopping to cool off under tumbling waterfalls. You’re constantly aware of the power of nature in Hawaii, where the lush scenery is like something out of another world. Jagged cliffs, beaches of glittering black sand, ribbon-like waterfalls cascading from emerald escarpments, and smoldering volcanoes catch your eye at every turn.

The Disney Wonder is scheduled to sail this itinerary, and it’s sure to quickly win over anyone who’s a Marvel fan or grew up on Disney movies. The ship’s Oceaneer Club gives kids the chance to step in Andy's Room from Toy Story or to connect with their inner superhero in a Marvel-themed room. And like all Disney experiences, there’s a good chance you may run into your favorite characters on board.

And while 10 might seem like a lot of sea days, skipping the airport could be a priceless vacation upgrade. What sets Viking apart from most of the other lines offering Hawaii cruises is that it includes a free shore excursion in every port. These include a highlights tour of Honolulu and Pearl Harbor on Oahu and a visit to a scenic waterfall and the Kilohana sugar plantation on Kauai.

Viking’s 17-day roundtrip Hawaiian Islands Sojourn from Los Angeles happens on board the Viking Star, which carries a maximum of 930 passengers. This journey includes 10 sea days and stops in Hilo, where you can see Mauna Kea, Hawaii’s largest volcano, and in Kauai, where you can take in the breathtaking sight of Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Check the ship’s daily schedule for expert lectures, and make time to experience the spa’s snow room while getting acquainted with Nordic bathing rituals. Some lines offer just a few round trips while others offer months of Hawaii cruises.

Carnival's Mardi Gras BOLT Roller Coaster is Voted Best Cruise Ship Feature

With a 350w brushless motor, the Jasion EB5 Electric Bike can achieve a top speed of 20 MPH with a range of up to miles per charge. 26-inch puncture-resistant tires provide excellent durability while there's a high-strength front fork suspension, Shimano 7-speed gears, dual lights, and an LCD display. The latter offers controls for adjustable backlight brightness with one of five levels, along with mode controls.

Is Bolt the best top-deck attraction at sea?

The BOLT roller coaster made its debut in 2021 on Carnival Cruise Line's ship, Mardi Gras, becoming the first-ever roller coaster at sea. Since then, it has been a highlight on Carnival's Excel-class ships. Still, my daughter said the ride was amazing, and that's what counts. My son said he'd consider using the limited amount of money I put on his cruise card to ride the roller coaster again – forgoing video games in the arcade or souvenir shopping for another two laps. My husband's take was that the views, speed and tilty track were all good, but that the ride was too short. If you want to ride a roller coaster on a cruise ship, you have two options for snagging a spot.

How much does it cost to ride the BOLT roller coaster?

Unfortunately, you're not allowed to take GoPros or cellphones, so you can't get any first-person videos of the ride. Ask a friend to video you from below; a good spot to film is on the jogging track between the mini-golf course and the water park. For roller-coaster aficionados, Bolt is unlikely to deliver, unless the novelty of riding a roller coaster on a cruise ship scores big. Carnival Cruise Line’s newest and largest-ever vessel launched out of Florida’s Port Canaveral on July 31, becoming the first-ever cruise ship to set sail with an onboard roller coaster, Bolt. Carnival also offers a family pack, offering three rides for the price of two.

Introducing “The Golden Jubilee” Bar on the Carnival Celebration

But it’s also important to remember that Bolt may not be able to operate if the weather is bad. We’ve heard from several passengers who made the mistake of waiting until the final day of their cruise to make a reservation only to find out that because of inclement weather, Bolt wasn’t operating. You will pick the day you want and then a 30-minute window that you wish to ride. You must check in sometime during your 30-minute window, or your reservation is forfeited.

How long does the ride on BOLT last?

Passengers must meet height and weight requirements (they have to be between 4 feet 4 inches and 6 feet 5 inches tall, for instance). You must be at least 52 inches (4 feet, 4 inches) tall and weigh less than 300 pounds in order to ride Bolt. Because you cannot have any loose articles in your pockets or on your body (think hats, glasses, cellphones and your cruise keycard), cubbies are provided for you to leave your belongings.

First Roller Coaster at Sea Wins Best Cruise Ship Feature!

You can walk up to the attendee manning the ride and ask if there are available slots. We chose to ride on embarkation day, when the weather was gray, and waltzed right on with no wait at all. Empty your pockets before you go or store your belongings in the provided cubbies so you don't lose your cruise card or wallet as you ride.

SkyRide is an elevated 800-foot-long track on the open deck that guests can pedal of speed up to 18 miles per hour at 150 feet above sea level. SkyRide has already won the Best Cruise Ship Feature four times, in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. The roller coaster on Mardi Gras has been one of the most anticipated new cruise ship features in years and thanks to Maurer Rides in Germany, that concept became a reality.

The ride operators are instructed to keep a close eye open and refuse to let those attempting to sneak the items onto the ride from boarding. If I can offer you one very important piece of advice, it’s to make your reservation for relatively early in your sailing. First, you want to do it while there are plenty of reservations available so that you can find a time that fits into your schedule. Readers were able to type in their own feature if their favorite was not listed, to make sure the entire industry was covered. Voting opened in September 2022, with readers only being allowed to cast a single vote in each of the eight categories.

A roller coaster in the ocean: What Carnival Cruise Line's BOLT ride is like

Just be sure you meet all the safety requirements -- shoes included. When the light turned green, we shot forward at an alarming speed, careening around turns and down hills that gave me butterflies. Although it wasn't quite as intense as most land-based coasters I've tried, it was exhilarating enough to elicit a couple of screams from me. This is where you’ll stand on the scale I mentioned before, which measures both your height and weight, and the Carnival attendants will confirm that you meet the requirements.

The coaster boasts an 800-foot track installed on Deck 19 of Carnival's ships, providing riders with an exciting journey that includes (moderate) drops, twists, and turns. After two days on board, my son and I have tested out all the waterslides and the ropes course on Carnival Celebration, as well as the roller coaster. The ropes course has the advantage in that once you're strapped in, you can go around countless times without waiting in line. However, my 8-year-old bailed three obstacles in, and I had to talk a crying, frightened child back across those obstacles to the main platform. I tried again later, and the latter half of it is a bit challenging and definitely pushes your trust in a harness over your base fear of falling to the limits.

In addition, riders must be wearing closed-toe shoes, and swim attire is not permitted. Dresses and skirts are not allowed unless you can tie them between your legs into makeshift shorts. If you wear glasses, remove them or fasten them to your head with a strap. My son didn't have a strap but the ride attendees had a few on hand that he could borrow. Here's everything you need to know about riding Carnival's Bolt roller coaster and my hot take on whether the short ride is worth what is a very high price tag.

It really is a lot of fun if you like rides that are speedy and twisty. From our experience, the passenger is the one who experiences the thrill, while the driver is too busy making sure they are going as fast as possible. One thing that catches some people off guard is the fact that there’s a bit of a dress code when it comes to riding Bolt. You need to be wearing closed-toe shoes, and although they don’t currently specifically refer to skirts, you’re probably going to want to wear shorts or pants for the ride.

Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate Abyss came in second place in the best feature category of the 2022 Cruise Hive Cruise Ship Awards. It’s a twisting, turning 10-story slide that goes from deck 16 aft near the FlowRider all the way down to the Boardwalk neighborhood on four ships. As part of Carnival Cruise Line's commitment to offering unique and exciting experiences, the BOLT roller coaster has been expanded to the Carnival Jubilee.
